An Award and some schmoozing

Karen, my favorite Author, Mom with Dogs awarded me with The Power of Schmooze.

It’s an award for those who have the natural ability “to effortlessly weave their way in and out of the blogosphere, leaving friendly trails and smiles, happily making new friends along the way. They don’t limit their visits to only the rich and successful, but spend some time to say hello to new blogs as well. They are the ones who engage others in meaningful conversations, refusing to let it end at a mere hello - all the while fostering a sense of closeness and friendship.”

I like the meaning behind this award. To me, this is what blogging is all about. I don't always get back to people who are kind enough to leave a comment here, I'll try to be better about that because I appreciate you all. Jennifer, Beck, Tut-Tut, Katie, Linda, Corey, Robin, Sognatrice...you are all on top of my great Scmoozers list. And take a look over at my side-bar list of blogger links. All those people have wonderful qualities that keep me checking in on their sites, knowing that I will read something that will make me smile or maybe provoke some neurological activity, not easy as my brain seems to be on summer holiday.

Speaking of schmoozing, I am actually getting paid to do that once in awhile. Today I was quite obligated to go schmooze at a wine cellar. I brought their touristy kind of documentation up to date, got a few bottles of wine for an exposition we are organizing in a big vacation rental complex, and of course, I kindly purchased a few bottles for my own personal consumption. The wine cellar owner got what she wanted for her customers, I certainly got what I wanted, so we were all happy. Schmoozing in action.

As I get to know the local wines a little better, I'll organize a taste test day, with photos and notes about the wines and different sites that are definitely worth visiting. One vineyard (Château Bas) not far from my house has Roman ruins (Temple de Diane) right in the middle of the vines. One can visit, as I did without my camera, but I promise to go back. And many of the other vineyards are downright charming and will be the subjects of future photo shoots by moi. Now, I must be off, I will include links tonight.

I agree about the schmoozing. It's great to be a part of a wide-reaching discussion, kick-started by the original blogger, that has so many threads and uncovers many different ideas. Happy days, Meredith!

You are right--basically, blogging is schmoozing. I certainly enjoy hopping from blog to blog reading and learning new things, being entertained. I love visiting vineyards. Have you been to Val Joanis near Villelaure? They have a fabulous garden and a great little gift shop.

That is definitely you, Meredith. Your blog is one that I always feel is like dropping in to a good neighbor's house for some good conversation.

Schmoozing sounds like an excellent thing - well done on the award!

I'm loooking forward to reading about your wine tasting, though it'll have to exercise my taste-bud imagination - in South Africa we only get South African wines surprise, surprise.

Congratulations on the Power of Schmooze. (Any relation to the Power of Cheese?)

Can't wait to see a photo of the ruins in the vineyard!

Congrats on the well=deserved Schmooze Award...
Now I want to hear more about the Scmooze with Booze, er, I mean, wine. What a fun way to spend the day.
We went for a bike ride and stopped to admire a potager...I think I'm missing something...

Congratulations! :)
And I just received this award this week, too, but haven't yet posted on it...I'm glad you quoted the meaning because I wasn't able to find that!

And getting paid for schmoozing...how fun is that! :)
